Thabet
Salem is a veteran Syrian journalist
with over 38 years of experience in
print, radio and television
journalism at home and abroad. Mr.
Salem, who holds a BA in English
literature, and a diploma in
European affairs from the Centre De
Perfectionement des Journalistes in
Paris, is also a media trainer and
activist, as well as political
commentator for major foreign
satellite television news programs,
including BBC "News Hour" and "The
World Today".
Mr. Salem has been Syria Bureau
Chief and producer for NBC since
1982, in addition to writing and
producing tens of short and long
documentaries for Arab TV stations,
including Al Jazeera, BBC, and
Kuwait. Former editor in chief of
Flash Magazine, news, programmes and
TV director at Syrian Television
(1974-1978), Mr. Salem also lectures
at the Radio and TV Training Center
of the Arab Broadcasting Union, an
Arab League organization, and is de
facto president of the Foreign Press
Society in Syria. |
