Q – Can I reapply for funding to cover
the cost of another investigative report?
A – Any journalist can apply for as many
times as he or she wishes, provided the
idea of the investigative report is
feasible. Moreover, it is the firm belief
of ARIJ that practice is the best way to
master the art of investigative
journalism.
Q – Can a radio or television reporter
apply for ARIJ funding to conduct an
investigative report to be broadcast by
his/her media outlet?
a- for the time being, ARIJ cannot
undertake such requests because it is
still looking for local radio and
television professionals who can coach the
applicant.
q- What are your conditions for
accepting to fund an investigative
journalism report?
a- The journalist or his/her employer have
to suggest the idea for the report, and to
demonstrate how he/she can implement it.

to ensure that the investigation gets
published after its completion. After
going through application process on line,
ARIJ will inform the journalist whether
his/her proposal has been accepted or
rejected, after which a national coach
will be assigned to help supervise the
investigation. Of course, the applicant
will also attend a four-day ARIJ-organized
workshop on investigative journalism at
the American University of Beirut.
Q – What can I do in case my
publication refuses to print the final
investigation?
Well, ARIJ, through its professional
connections with various local and Arab
and foreign newspaper, can help find an
alternative publication. However, it is

investigative report before it is
commissioned.

transparent are your financial procedures?

quarterly statements that are sent to the
board members and the International Media
Support, which has been contracted by the
Danish parliament, to oversee the program.
