Don't
miss ARIJ 2nd conference for
Arab investigative journalists in Amman,
Nov. 20-22, 2009!
Join brave
Arab editors and journalists of the 21st
century who are working with Arab
Reporters for Investigative Journalism
(ARIJ), to promote in-depth reporting
across the region's newsrooms, cutting
through political and legal impediments,
as well as social and religious taboos.
The
conference, organized by ARIJ for the
second year in a raw, hosts a range of
international and Arab speakers, and
covers every angle of investigative
journalism.
You will
hear from international award-winning
journalists and academics like Charles
Lewis (USA), Tim Sebastian (UK), Mondli
Makhanya (South Africa), Mark Hunter
(France), Magdi Gallad and Yosri Fouda
(Egypt), Ahmed Benchemsi (Morocco) and
others hailing from 16 Arab countries.
Jordan's
Raed Nesheiwat, US-trained information
security expert, and his assistant,
Mohammad Amereh, will train you on how to
use Computer Assisted Reporting (CAR)
tools, relying on special Arabic software
adapted by ARIJ.
The
conference will bring together
international and professional practices
in a strictly non-academic way, focused on
the "how to do" and the "need to know",
rather than the "nice to know".
During the
conference, there will be up to 20
workshops, panels and a roundtable with
Arab chief editors and media managers, all
designed to push hardcore reporting
forward and to ensure exchanges.
